Why the Richmond FISHER HOUSE and FOUNDATION?

In 2011 the Raymond A. Mason School of Business started a partnership with the US Army in which around 20 Army officers get their MBA at the Raymond A. Mason School of Business at the College of William & Mary annually.  These Major General James Wright Fellows, students whom have served or currently serving in any branch of military, and the school's proximity to many military installations, makes The Richmond Fisher House an ideal organization to support. It is a beautiful facility that provides lodging to the families of veterans receiving treatment at the McGuire VA hospital in Richmond, VA. 100% of the proceeds from this golf tournament will go to The Richmond Fisher House and Foundation.

Why golden horseshoe?

We chose to hold the 2016 tournament at Golden Horseshoe because it is a critically acclaimed course located in Historic Colonial Williamsburg and only two miles from William & Mary's campus.  The management at the course has been very good to work with in the past and we are already benefitting from their help with setting up this years event.  They have allowed us pay a flat fee to reserve the Green Course, which has decreased the cost per player with every additional golfer that registers.  Because of the flat course reservation fee and donated food, we are expecting to raise a lot of money for The Richmond Fisher House this year!

Format

We will be playing captain's choice. In this format each player hits a tee shot, the captain chooses the best tee shot, and each player hits from that spot. This process is continued until the ball is holed out. You may lift, clean and place your ball within one club length of the selected shot, no nearer to the hole. If the selected shot lies in a hazard, bunker, rough, fairway, fringe or the green, every player must hit their shot from that same area. Due to the team nature of captain's choice tournaments we encourage golfers of all skill levels to come out and support The Richmond Fisher House.

2 mulligans may be purchased for $15.  The player may choose to take their mulligans at any time during the round (on a tee shot, approach shot, putt, etc).  Only that players that have purchased mulligans receive 2 to retake shots. No more than 2 mulligans may be used by each player.
